What it’s like
Venetica presents a dark fantasy narrative set in an alternate-history Venice, where you play as Scarlett, the daughter of Death. The experience begins with a personal tragedy that thrusts you into a supernatural conflict against a cunning necromancer threatening the balance between life and death. Structurally, it functions as a third-person action-adventure RPG, blending hack-and-slash combat with light role-playing elements like skill trees and dialogue choices. The tone is atmospheric and mysterious, leaning heavily on its gothic aesthetic and voice acting to establish mood rather than complex mechanical depth. While the premise of mastering supernatural powers offers a compelling hook, the game is designed as an accessible entry point for those seeking more substance than a standard adventure game but less complexity than hardcore RPGs. The world feels charming yet somewhat static, prioritizing narrative delivery over intricate systemic interaction.

Keep in mind The combat quickly becomes repetitive and lacks mechanical variety, making encounters feel samey after the initial novelty wears off. Additionally, the pacing suffers from excessive back-tracking during quests, which can disrupt immersion and frustrate players seeking a tight, linear flow.
