Sep 18, 2017 9 years ago
A single player exploration and survival experience, played in first person and developed in Unreal Engine 4. Set on a mysterious and uninhabited alien planet. With Earth on the brink of destruction, as mankind's last hope, and stranded on a deserted alien planet, the player has to survive the harsh environment and find a way to send a signal back home. Confronted with merciless weather, and danger lurking around every corner, the player must save the human race while unraveling the deep secrets of the seemingly deserted alien civilization. Is he truly alone?
What it’s like
The Solus Project delivers a solitary, atmospheric survival experience set on the desolate planet Gliese-6143-C. You play as the last hope for humanity, tasked with surviving harsh, randomized weather and scavenging resources to send a distress signal home. The core appeal lies in its masterful environmental storytelling and eerie sense of isolation; you are never alone, yet entirely disconnected from others, uncovering the secrets of a vanished alien civilization through exploration rather than combat. While the survival mechanics—managing hunger, thirst, and shelter—are present, they serve primarily as a framework for the mood rather than a deep simulation. The game excels in visuals and audio design, creating a hauntingly beautiful yet terrifying world. However, the pacing can feel uneven; early challenges may give way to repetitive scavenging loops that stretch the ten-hour runtime, making it a strong choice for those seeking mood over mechanical complexity.

Keep in mind The survival mechanics are relatively shallow and can become repetitive, potentially boring players who prefer deep resource management systems. The pacing suffers in the mid-game, where the tension of early survival dissipates into mundane scavenging tasks.
