What it’s like
Star Wars Outlaws offers a visceral immersion into the galaxy's criminal underbelly during the era between major saga films. You embody Kay Vess, an ambitious scoundrel navigating a sprawling, visually stunning open world filled with iconic and new planets. The core loop revolves around heists, reputation management with crime syndicates, and freedom of movement on foot or in your ship. While the atmosphere is thick with franchise nostalgia and the art direction is polished, the experience is often defined by its safe, repetitive design. Combat feels generic and lacks depth, while stealth mechanics are functional but limited until late-game upgrades. Exploration is the undeniable highlight, offering breathtaking vistas and a sense of scale that captures the Star Wars spirit, even if the underlying systems feel underdeveloped or frustratingly mandatory at times.
