Remnant: From the Ashes
Mar 21, 2023 3 years ago
The world is in ruins. Only a remnant of mankind remains, hunted to near extinction by horrors from another world. As one of the few survivors left, you will venture into portals to fantastic realms to gather the resources and firepower needed to fight back and retake what was lost. Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival-action game set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by mythical creatures. The game provides players and up to three of their friends with a unique, customizable gameplay experience filled with intense shooting and melee combat, gear and weapon crafting, character progression and dynamically-generated levels that offer an infinite number of ways to explore and take on deadly monsters and epic bosses.
What it’s like
Remnant: From the Ashes delivers a visceral, high-octane fusion of third-person shooter mechanics and Souls-like tension. You navigate grotesque, semi-procedurally generated biomes filled with eldritch horrors, relying on deliberate gunplay and melee strikes to survive punishing encounters. The core loop is deeply satisfying: defeat formidable bosses, collect rare loot, and customize your build across three distinct classes. While the narrative framework of saving humanity provides context, it serves primarily as a backdrop for the action rather than a focal point. The experience shines in its cooperative design, encouraging teamwork to tackle difficult content with friends. Visually, it presents a stark contrast between beautiful, surreal environments and horrific enemy designs. The craft lies in its tight shooting mechanics and meaningful gear variety, offering a challenging but rewarding progression system that emphasizes player skill and build optimization over narrative exposition.

Keep in mind The story and character interactions are notably thin and forgettable, serving only as flavor text for the gameplay. · Some procedural generation can lead to repetitive level layouts or awkward enemy spawns that disrupt pacing.
