What it’s like
AER: Memories of Old offers a serene, meditative flight simulator disguised as an adventure game. You play as Auk, a shapeshifter navigating a fractured, post-apocalyptic world of floating islands and ancient ruins. The core loop revolves around soaring through the sky in bird form to traverse vast distances and solving environmental puzzles on foot as a human. The experience is defined by its low-poly aesthetic and tranquil mood, prioritizing exploration and atmosphere over narrative depth or mechanical complexity. While the setting is visually striking and the flight mechanics are satisfyingly smooth, the game remains relatively concise and linear. It functions best as a short, atmospheric escape rather than a substantial RPG, focusing on the joy of movement and discovery within a beautifully crafted but ultimately small-scale world.

Keep in mind The narrative and lore are often cited as underdeveloped or wasted potential, offering little emotional weight despite the scenic backdrop. The gameplay loop can feel repetitive due to limited puzzle variety and a short runtime that leaves many players wanting more content.
